Cannot Boot Windows 8 Secure Boot Machines with Acronis Loader
2013-02-15
A hotfix is available for True Image 2013
This article applies to:
- True Image 2013 by Acronis
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5
Symptoms
- You have a Windows 8 machine with Secure boot enabled;
- You attempt to boot the machine with Acronis Loader: from Acronis Bootable Media or Acronis Startup Recovery Manager;
- The attempt fails - the machine either hangs on Loading, please wait... or fails to load with an error message from Windows Secure boot.
Cause
With the Secure boot enabled in BIOS, Windows 8 will not let any unsigned loader boot the machine.
This is a Windows 8 security measure.
